Revolving Resolutions

Do you make New Year's Resolutions?

I made a resolution last year: NOT to make resolutions on New Year's Day!

I have kept that resolution.

I saw an ad on the Internet yesterday which said that
Resolutions were made to be broken.

So true, and yet so sad, because we all have the best intentions. So this year I have made intentions, rather than resolutions. Resolutions are the things we should do. And we always resist things we know we should do. Intentions are so much more positive and they are things we really want to do. I know I'm more motivated to activate my intentions than to keep my resolutions.

How about you? Did you set your intentions for the new year? And considering that it is January 4, have you kept them or gotten distracted yet?

I find hypnosis helps keep me motivated to act on my intentions. So I made daily self-hypnosis one of my intentions. So far, so good!

Another Day

I was challenged to complete this sentence on another brilliant blog, by the philolog:
Another day, another _____.

So I have completed it many times over, for many different people from diverse occupations.
Another day, another dollar (or dime) for a banker.
Another day, another disaster, for a pessimist.
Another day, another doorway, for an architect.
Another day, another dinosaur, ...paleontologist.
Another day, another ding dong, ...doorman.
Another day, another dirigible, ... submarine manufacturer.
Another day, another dipthong, ...grammarian.
Another day, another dimwit, ...customer service rep.
Another day, another dam,..... canal worker. Also, it's one dam thing after another!
Another day, another diaper, ... mother.
Another day, another dragon, ... mythologist.
Another day, another drug deal, ...dealer or narc.
Another day, another dill pickle, ... pickle lover.
Another day, another dipstick, ... mechanic.
Another day, another drunk, ... bartender.
Another day, another drink, ... drunk.
Another day, another divorce, ... lawyer.
Another day, another dumb bell, ... weight lifter.
Another day, another diamond, ... jeweler.

I like that one. It's not just for jewelers.

No dictionaries were consulted for this post, so please forgive any aberrations in orthography. Thanks.

Leveraging the Universe

I just finished listening to Mike Dooley’s Leverage the Universe, and Engage the Magic. It is mind bogglingly fantastic. It’s awesome. And I went to his website and signed up for Notes from the Universe. So now I get an email everyday from the universe. It’s really cool. Maybe this email addiction I have can lead to a positive outcome!

This guy has been reading my mind. Or is it the other way around? Or am I just accessing the same Universal Mind that he has? I guess he actually started saying these things first, but so much of what he says is what I covered in my Verbal Impact seminar, which will be a 2-hour workshop next year.

I think everyone should talk to themselves in positive way. I think we should talk to each other that way. I think the word “should” should be replaced with could, which empowers you, instead of obligating you to do something. I could go see my grandmother. See? It sounds better than I should go see my grandmother. If I “should,” I might not, because it sounds like a burden. If I “could,” it sounds like a possibility, an opportunity, something that might be pleasant or rewarding. Mike says to replace “should” with “want.” It doesn’t work all the time for me. I’ll go with could. I could get a sandwich for you. I could make an appointment for you. I could help you facilitate change in your life. Etc.
